Home is Where the Art Is — SCCLT 30th Anniversary Celebration

This special evening will kick off a month-long art exhibit celebrating 30 years of permanently affordable homeownership in Centre County. The exhibit was created through a unique collaboration between SCCLT homeowners and local artists, pairing residents’ personal stories of home with original artwork inspired by their experiences.
 
 
Event highlights include:
Interactive Community Poetry: Guests will be invited to contribute lines about what “home” means to them, creating a collaborative poem
Kids Art Corner: A welcoming space where children can create artwork about home and community.
Anniversary Raffle: Featuring donated items from local businesses and artists, with proceeds helping to raise critical funds to support SCCLT’s mission.
• Light refreshments and opportunities to learn about SCCLT’s impact and future vision.

Join Tides at Grief Matters, a one-day educational seminar hosted by Tides. This year’s theme, The Ripple Effect: Supporting the Whole System When a Child Grieves, explores how grief impacts not just a child, but their family, school, and broader community. When a child experiences loss, the effects ripple outward. When we support the whole system, healing becomes more possible for everyone involved. Whether you work directly with children, support families, or are simply seeking to deepen your understanding of grief, we hope you’ll join us for this meaningful day.

The Remembrance Ruck Challenge is a rucking fundraiser coordinated by Leadership Centre County in support of Tides. It was created in loving memory of those we’ve lost and inspired by Dale Miller, a well-known and active member of our Centre County community, who passed away in 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Whether you ruck with a name on your heart, a photo in your pack or a story you want to carry forward, this is a chance to move together in remembrance and community.

We're hiring our next Assistant Literacy Program Coordinator! Please help us spread the word. 
 
Located in State College, PA, Mid-State Literacy Council (MSLC) is a nonprofit organization created in 1971 to provide literacy resources and support to adults in Centre and Clearfield Counties. We believe that literacy is essential for individuals to achieve safety, personal goals, and active participation in the community. With the help of 200 trained volunteers and a professional staff, we offer privately funded one-to-one tutoring and classes, serving over 300 adult learners per year. Our programs have positively impacted lives by promoting employment opportunities, improving health, and supporting children’s success in school.
The Assistant Literacy Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting and delivering basic literacy instruction to adults throughout Centre and Clearfield Counties. This is a public-facing, entry-level position ideal for individuals interested in adult education, nonprofit program coordinating, or social services. The Assistant Literacy Program Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for students, volunteers, and community partners, while also providing direct literacy instruction to individual learners and small groups of adults. Learners may include GED candidates, older adults, English language learners, and any adult developing foundational reading, writing, math, communication, and digital literacy skills. Training, curriculum, and instructional support will be provided.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience with non-profit organizations as an employee or volunteer
  • Demonstrated interest in basic literacy, digital literacy, and adult education
  • Ability to work effectively with adults of diverse ages, cultures, backgrounds, and abilities, including older adults, English language learners, and adults with diverse learning abilities
  • Reliable personal vehicle and willingness to travel throughout Centre and Clearfield Counties
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong verbal, written, and digital communication skills
  • Confidence with public speaking and engaging groups of adult learners
  • Flexibility, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality related to student and volunteer information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media and ability to learn additional tools

Corporate & Community Partnerships Manager (Part-Time)

Position Overview: Centre County United Way (CCUW) is seeking a motivated, relationship-driven Corporate & Community Partnerships Manager to help grow and strengthen our annual campaign and corporate engagement efforts. This part-time position is ideal for a confident self-starter who is energized by meeting new people, building partnerships, and expanding community impact. The Corporate & Community Partnerships Manager will focus on increasing revenue through corporate donations, workplace campaigns, volunteer engagement, and new business partnerships across Centre County. This individual must be comfortable initiating phone calls, securing in-person meetings, and representing CCUW independently in the community. 

Core Responsibilities

Campaign Growth & Revenue Development 

  • Analyze and research CCUW’s donor database to identify:
    • Businesses currently engaged through corporate giving, workplace campaigns, or volunteerism
    • Lapsed partners 
    • Untapped businesses within Centre County 
  • Develop outreach strategies to grow workplace campaigns and corporate partnerships 
  • Identify opportunities to deepen engagement and increase giving among existing partners 
  • Maintain a prospect pipeline and track progress toward campaign goals 

Business Outreach & Relationship Building 

  • Conduct proactive outreach via phone, email, and in-person visits 
  • Schedule and lead meetings with business leaders independently or alongside the Executive Director 
  • Clearly articulate CCUW’s mission, impact, and partnership opportunities 
  • Attend networking events and community functions as a CCUW ambassador 

Collaboration & Strategy 

  • Serve as staff liaison to the Revenue Diversification Committee
  • Work closely with the Brand & Engagement Manager to align outreach with messaging and materials 
  • Partner with the Executive Director on strategic donor cultivation 
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular progress reports 

Qualifications 

  • Experience in fundraising, sales, business development, marketing, or relationship management preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Comfortable initiating outreach and making “cold” calls
  • Organized and able to manage multiple prospects simultaneously
  • Data-informed and strategic in approach
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented
  • Familiarity with Centre County business community preferred 

Compensation & Schedule 

  • Part-time (approximately 20–25 hours per week; flexible schedule)
  • Some evening networking events required
  • Hourly rate range: $25-$30/hour, commensurate with experience
  • This position is currently part-time, with the opportunity to expand to full-time as organizational resources and community investment grow.
