Where Your Money Goes
Centre County United Way raises funding through an annual campaign. Individuals, businesses and their employees, Penn State employees and retirees, and foundations donate money that is put in the general fund and distributed each May to the Centre County United Way Partner Agencies. Donations that are designated to a specific organization or other county United Way are taken out of the general fund and "passed through" to those organizations.
In April of each year, trained community volunteers meet with representatives from each partner agency to review their application for funding, program outcomes, financial statements and governance to determine the level of support the program will receive from Centre County United Way.
This process of allocation is known as "Funds Distribution" and ensures that the money donated through the annual campaign is going to quality programs that serve Centre County residents.
